RISD Calendar

High Volume Web Application 2008

The problem with software web calendars is that they work like paper ones. They want to display all their information for that day in one small box. That's how the calendar works here at RISD.

Because there may be 50 things going on in a single day it became impossible to find anything as the calendar was completely stretched from trying to fit all the events, it was hard to read, and people just didn't use it.

Because of this, my friends and I would hear of great lectures around campus only find out they already happened. To combat this, I took matters into my own hands and designed a new calendar designed from the ground up to deal with tons of events on a single day.

This was a single week concept to code.
